This week we are honoring Marika from Finland! She says studying abroad has always been one of her dreams. She loves swimming and has been since she was a baby. Marika aspires to become a sports physician in the future!
Marika’s host mother says, “We’ve enjoyed supporting Marika as she has embraced American high school. She was voted Most Valuable Player by her teammates on the varsity swim team. She is also running track and has made great friends. Marika has also fallen in love with our black lab, Tess, and is hoping to convince her family to get a dog once she returns home.”
Marika says, “Before I came here I thought the area would be a much smaller town, but all of my expectations and assumptions have been changed positively and I couldn’t be any happier! My host family and my friends have made my year the best year in my life so far and I am really thankful for that. America will always be my second home.”
